PREVENTION OF HIV TRANSMISSIONS & DRUG AMONG RESIDENT POPULATION IN THE CROSS-BORDER AREA

•    Civic association HELP Gostivar

Vision: Help wants Gostivar to set an example for the rest of Macedonia - developing communities where human rights and freedoms of all people are equally respected and free discrimination.

Mission: HELP is a citizens association based in Gostivar dedicated to improve the human rights due to advancement of health and socioeconomic status of all people, especially drug users, sex workers and other marginalized communities based on the principles of harm reduction.

HELP – is a citizens association established in January 2003 on initiative of other local organization, IPG (Inter-ethnic Project Gostivar). In its beginnings HELP implemented activities to promote health and drug prevention. Then in cooperation with HOPS started the implementation of the needle exchange program for prevention of HIV/AIDS among drug users and their families in Gostivar and support of sex workers.

By 2008 HELP started implement programs (needle exchange program and support of sex workers) independently as a secondary recipient of the Ministry of Health of Macedonia.

In its actions, HELP primarily conducts its activities in order to improve the status of drug users and sex workers, as well as all other marginalized groups in the society and in this context they all are direct users or target groups in the operations of the organization.

 

•    Center for development and improvement of public life –Tetovo

Vision: CSO CDIPL Tetovo aims citizens to be active and informed stakeholders in the processes of creation, access and use of quality and effective health, social - economic, educational, educational programs and services, based on the principles of prevention and education, economic development on the principles of sustainability and respecting the standards for the protection of nature and environment.

Mission: Mission of the CSO CDIPL Tetovo is to provide that the citizens regardless of their ethnic, gender, religion, sexual and other background and orientation, social status and social position, have equal access to information and services, advocacy and lobbying for the use of health care, education, educational programs and activities, especially for children and young people and members of marginalized and vulnerable groups.

Civil Society Organization Center for development and improvement of public life Tetovo (CSO CDIPL Tetovo) was founded in 2004 and is an independent, nonprofit, nongovernmental, nonpartisan CSO formed through free association of citizens to give them opportunity to exercise their personal and collective rights and freedoms.

CSO CDIPL Tetovo at the beginning, in 2008 in cooperation with HOPS, started the implementation of program for harm reduction of drug use, and from 2010, as a secondary recipient of a grant from the Global Fund to fight HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria through the Macedonian Ministry of Health, independently implements same program.

From 2014, CSO CDIPL Tetovo began to implement and program for support of sex workers, also as a secondary recipient of a grant from the Global Fund to Fight HIV / AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria through the Macedonian Ministry of Health.

In its actions, CSO CDIPL Tetovo primarily conducts its activities in order to improve the status of drug users and sex workers, as well as all other marginalized groups in the society and in this context they all are direct users or target groups in the operations of the organization.

 

•    Association for healthy life styles PULSE – Kumanovo

Vision: Creating a society where human rights and freedoms are respected, with special focus on drug user’s rights as well as other marginalized groups.

Mission: Promotion and implementation of human rights, in order to improve the health, socio-economic status of all people, as well as improving the standards and treatment for drug users.

Association for healthy life styles – Kumanovo is established in 2008 on initiative of HOPS. Work and activities of the association is related to harm reduction of drug using and other psychoactive substances, work and education of drug users, primary prevention of HIV, Hepatitis B and C, cooperation with other NGOs, health and social centers.

By 2008 PULSE started implement harm reduction program independently with funds of Global Fond for fight HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

In its efforts to act in the exercise of the rights of drug users and other marginalized communities, PULS- Kumanovo cooperate with other civil society organizations in the city that have a similar mission, as well as health and social centers in Kumanovo.
